Wendy Warner, cello - Camerata Chicago - Drostan Hall

On Cedille Chicago Presents this week (at 98.7 FM WFMT in Chicago and wfmt.com everywhere, Wednesday nights), I unveil our new release for August, Haydn & Myslivecek Cello Concertos with soloist Wendy Warner and Camerata Chicago conducted by Drostan Hall. The disc combines the familiar concertos of Franz Joseph Haydn with one by his Bohemian contemporary, Josef Myslivecek, who was a highly successful opera composer in Italy in the 1770s, greatly admired by both Wolfgang and Leopold Mozart. For this week’s free download, I have chosen the virtuosic finale of Haydn’s earlier concerto (the one in C major), which shows off the technical prowess and flair of the recording’s soloist, orchestra, and conductor.
