This new documentary about one of the greatest conductors in musical history is a testament to his life and work. It features numerous works that he conducted or arranged including Pineapple Poll, Janacek's Sinfonietta and Beethoven's Symphony No 5.
Included are numerous interviews with Sir Charles himself, his sister Joan Mackerras as well as notable personalities such as the internationally known soprano, Renée Fleming, the General Director of the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Anthony Freud and his nephew, our very own Music Director of Camerata Chicago, Drostan Hall.
Mackerras conducted world famous orchestras such as the
Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Lyric Opera of Chicago,
Berlin Philharmonic and the Metropolitan Opera New York.
Sir Charles was the International Advisor to Camerata Chicago.
MackerrasLegacy.com has the full documentary script - and our Beethoven 5th Symphony recording.
The documentary is hosted by Lisa Flynn and produced by Jon Tolansky. It is underwritten by the Buonacorsi Foundation.
